Summary

Public: Small cylindrical teapot with loop handle and spout with acanthus moulding. Domed cover with tear shaped finial. Cream coloured earthenware body, sides decorated with light and dark brown slip. Applied reliefs comprising oval medallion with profile bust flanked by swags picked out in green. Private: Small cylindrical teapot with concave shoulder curving to straight neckrim, plain strap loop handle and S-shaped spout with acanthus moulding above base. Cream coloured earthenware body, sides decorated with wide band of mottled light and dark brown slip, between two turned ribbed borders at shoulder and foot picked out in green underglaze copper oxide. Applied reliefs to either side over brown slip ground, comprising central oval medallion bearing profile bust, surrounded by fabric swag tied in a knot below, and flanked by two fabric swags reaching to spout and handle, swags picked out in green. Domed cover with tear shaped finial and flattened ribbed rim, decorated with mottled brown slip ground and applied reliefs of two portrait medallions and two swags, swags and rim picked out in green. Small pierced hole to one side.
