Summary
A full-figure portrait of a woman and child, standing against a background of foliage. The central figure of the woman, who wears a wide-necked, dark dress and shawl, holds the hand of a yound child to the left, who wears a light-coloured dress tied around the waist with a blue sash. The child holds the hand on the left out to the side and turns its head slightly to the right; the woman turns her head in the same direction and raises her free hand to waist height. Background detail is suggested through loose brushwork in dilute watercolour.
