Blue and white wash drawing on wood block of a rocky mountainside. A preparatory drawing intended to be engraved for 'Modern Painters' vol 4 pl 41 but afterwards cancelled, the author finding it impossible to have wash drawings adequately interpreted by wood-engravings. The back of the woodblock is inscribed: 10. / M. Painters / Vol IV p262-3 / 511 Manchester Ex.
