John Ruskin 1819 - 1900

Summary

Fir trees and mountain peaks lightly indicated in ink with watercolour on wood block. According to the1904 exhibition catalogue of the 'Ruskin Exhibition' (Manchester City Art Gallery) it was one of a number of woodblocks intended for Modern Painters but later cancelled as Ruskin found it impossible to have wash drawings adequately interpreted by wood-engravings.
