Silver wine taster 1772-3 Bordeaux Wine tasters, or ‘tastevins’, were used widely across France by wealthy people in the eighteenth century. They were made by master silversmiths and often intricately decorated on the inside and engraved with their owner’s name. They were prized possessions for people and were small enough to be carried around in people’s pockets at all times. Mr and Mrs Assheton Bennett bequest 1957.600
