Summary

Full length cocktail/evening dress in pale pink viscose/nylon crepe; sleeveless with deep v-armholes and plunging v-neckline, all edged with seed pearls; dropped back waist with front waist panel rising to a point; front and back waist panels deorated with bands of diamante, bugle beads, clear glass beads and small iridescent shells (Bill Gibb's trademark); hem gathered to the left with a deep vent, edged in seed pearls; woven label, cb neck 'Bill Gibb, London'. Donor bought the dress from Harrods in 1979 and had it taken in at a cost of £20 as it was a size 12 and she was a size 10. She wore if for her son's Bar Mitzvah. Gibb designed for the London fashion house Baccarat from 1969, then in 1972 he launched his own company, Bill Gibb Fashion Group, opening his first shop in London, on Bond Street in 1975 and closing in 1979.
