Summary

Public: Pair of amphora shaped lidded vases, stoneware, solid white jasper with green dip, decorated with two applied lilac medallions with classical scenes in white relief. Private: Amphora shaped vase with flat shoulder, narrow neck and spreading foot on square plinth, decorated with a sage green dip. Plinth side panels decorated with white relief anthemion motifs. Foot of vase has acanthus border at outer edge and white rim at junction with body. Main body decorated with two applied lilac medallions with classical figures in white relief, one on each side against plain green ground. Lower body below decorated with large white leaves, radiating out from base, shoulder above with plain white rim. White lions' heads positioned high up on each side of body, twisted manes forming loop handles. Shoulder and neck plain green with shallow engine-turned spiral ribbing, border of white palm leaves beneath rim. Flared rim with acanthus border, conical cover with spherical finial and radiating palm leaves. One vase slightly shorter than the other.
