Summary

Public: Large thrown circular bowl on turned footring. Cream coloured earthenware body, painted with a border of fruiting strawberry stems to the exterior rim within gilt bands. The interior is painted with Merchant Taylors coat of arms with a border under rim of undulating fruiting grapevines within gilt bands. Private: Large thrown circular bowl on turned flared footring. Pale cream coloured earthenware body with painted border of fruiting strawberry stems around exterior side beneath rim, enclosed within gilt bands. Interior painted with Merchant Taylors coat of arms, comprising shield bearing lion, tent and two ermine cloaks, flanked by two camels and surmounted by radiant sheep, scroll below inscribed 'CONCORDIA / PARVAE . RES / CRESCUNT' and ornamented with gilt festoons. Interior border below rim of undulating fruiting grapevines enclosed within gilt bands, rim and footring edged in gilt. Fine greenish-yellow creamware glaze.
