Horses Grazing 1
Summary
Rendered in quite a stylised manner with strong black line-work and even hatching this print depicts two horses. The horses are standing so close together that it is difficult to separate them from one another. The horse closest to the viewer is standing diagonally away from the viewer so that it’s tail and back legs are seen almost straight on whilst it’s right hand side is still visible. Its head is lowered to the ground with its nose almost touching the floor. The second horse is almost hidden behind the other horse; it is also facing the right and seen in profile. Only it’s back legs and head are visible as it adopts a similar stance to the other horse with its head also bent towards the ground. Apart from the shadows cast by the horses on the ground there are no other details in the print.
