Cyclamen Persicum

John Nash 1893 - 1977

Summary

The cyclamen that is in the centre of the composition and which fills the space dominates this domestic interior scene. The four flowers on the plant stretch up to the top edge and also to the right edge, whilst the low lying, flat leaves stretch out horizontally across the composition, As a pot plant the cyclamen has been placed upon a round table which is covered by a table cloth and which fills the foreground of the composition, Beyond the cyclamen other details of the interior can be seen. Just to the left of the plant pot, also on the table, is a book, and behind the table, also on the left hand side, the curved back of a chair can be seen. On the wall in the top left hand corner there is a picture frame although it has been sharply cropped and on the right hand side in the background the details of a fireplace can be seen.
