Summary
Lady Lydia Acland (nee Hoare) was the only daughter of Henry Hoare of Mitcham (a banking family). She married Sir Thomas Dyke Acland of Killerton, Devon, 10th Baronet. The elder boy, Thomas Dyke Acland, was born in 1809 and succeeded his father as 11th Baronet. He was for many years a Member of Parliament. He died in 1898. The younger son, Arthur Henry Dyke Acland, was born in 1811. He took the name of Troyte and died in 1857. Lady Acland died in 1856. This is Samuel Cousins' first plate and Acland was his earliest patron and lifelong friend.
