The Marquis of Wellesley (1760-1842) was an Irish and British politician and colonial administrator. He was Governor-General of Bengal from 1798 to 1805. He later served as Foreign Secretary in the British Cabinet and was Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland 1821-28. A proof before inscription, later published by Welch & Gwynne.
