Nadie se Conoce (Nobody knows himself)

Francisco Goya Y Lucientes 1746 - 1828

Summary

This is a carnival scene of several figures. On the right a masked figure facing left in a dress with long dark hair sits or leans with her feet together out to the left. Facing this figure is another masked figure also with long dark hair, wearing male clothing; a jacket and 3/4 length trousers with a sword at the hip. This second figure bends at the hip to be on the same eye line as the figure in a dress and holds out their right upturned hand. Other figures wearing hats and masks are behind in the shadows.
