Summary

Public: Globular shaped covered pot, hard paste porcelain, chinoiserie decoration in enamel colours, lustre and gilt with moulded detail. Private: Hard paste porcelain, squat globular shape, set on three paw feet, with everted lip, scrolled handle and slightly domed cover with globular knop. Painted in iron red, purple, green, yellow, brown and black enamel colours with a chinoserie scene in a shaped cartouche of mother-of-pearl (Perlmutter) lustre and gilt, surrounded with scrollwork in iron red, and scattered stylized flowers (indianische Blumen). Moulded details picked out in gilt. The cover is a later replacement, painted with a miniature chinoiserie scene. It would have been supplied, originally, with a saucer or stand. There is an example of the complete set in FMW Cambridge (C2-1972).
