Piccadilly, from Queens Hotel

Francis Frith 07/10/1822 - 25/02/1898

Summary

View of Piccadilly, Manchester, from an elevated position: presumably a window of the Queen's Hotel on the corner of Portland Street. The infirmary can be seen to the left, the statue of the Duke of Wellington in the centre, and the shops and businesses of Piccadilly to the right. In the foreground are horse-drawn vehicles, including the Alexandra Park tram. Street vendors sell their wares on the corner, and the crowd of people seems to get even denser in the distance towards Market Street.
