Albion Hotel

Francis Frith 07/10/1822 - 25/02/1898

Summary

View of the Albion Hotel in Manchester. The architecture of the hotel is a nineteenth century mixture, slightly classical, with French-style balconies to the first floor windows and a faintly gothic roof tower. The view is taken from near to the statue of Robert Peel on Piccadilly, as the hotel was at the corner of Oldham Street. Next door to the hotel, and on the ground floor of the right-hand section is the shop of Andrew Macbeth & Sons. Traffic, both pedestrian and horse-drawn, hurries by. The passing tram is going to Ashton & Stalybridge.
