Deansgate
Francis Frith 07/10/1822 - 25/02/1898
Summary
The view is down Deansgate, looking towards Manchester Cathedral. Trams pass by (one is going to Pendleton) and the road is full of other horse-drawn and pedestrian traffic. The subject of the photograph seems to be the impressive commercial buildings in the Manchester Venetian-Gothic style which flank the street. The ground floor units of these buildings are occupied by shops, some of which have awnings out.
