Summary

Half-length portrait of Frances Hanbury Capel, Countess of Essesx (1735-1759) . Her left hand rests on the side of her face and her right hand on her lap. She has a small cap tied with a bow under her chin. Her low-cut dress has a bodice with five bows down the front.and lacey sleeves, transparent and full. A fur wrap or cape is round her neck and she wears a multi-row pearl bracelet on her left hand. She was the daughter of Sir Charles Hanbury-Williams and Lady Frances Coningsby. She married William Capel, 4th Earl of Essex, in 1764,
