Summary

Public: Pear-shaped jug, white earthenware with a pearlware glaze, painted in red, pink, purple, green, yellow, blue, brown and black overglaze enamels with floral festoons and dated commemorative verse within laurel wreath. Private: Pear-shaped jug on turned spreading foot, tapering to slightly flared rim with broad inset lip and ribbed loop handle. Side opposite handle painted in overglaze enamels with fruiting laurel wreath suspended from blue and white patera at base of lip, enclosing commemorative inscription: 'AA / When this you see / Pray think on me. / Tho many miles. / We Distant be / .1789.'. Second laurel wreath suspended from patera beneath upper handle terminal, floral festoons suspended across either side of jug between handle terminal and lip. Neck and lip painted with simple brown dart border, handle and foot with plain blue bands. Fine blue pearlware glaze.
