Summary

Public: Pair of amphora shaped vases with separate pair of high squared pedestals. Stoneware, solid blue jasper with snake-handles and white relief decoration of young children. Private: Amphora shaped ovoid vase with spreading foot on square plinth, in solid pale blue jasper. Plinth decorated with anthemion border along side panels. Foot decorated with acanthus border round outer edge, and beaded band at junction with main body. Body of vase decorated with scenes from 'Offering to Peace' and 'Maternity', consisting of young women, children and babies, lower body below decorated with radiating palm leaves, white laurel border at shoulder above. Narrow neck with flared rim and decoration of acanthus leaves and single vertical stems, bound together round neck by guilloche border. Band of hand-rolled white beads round neck rim. Two solid blue loop handles coiling upwards from paterae at neck rim, terminating at shoulder. Two solid white snakes coiled symmetrically round handles, heads resting together on one side of body at shoulder. Differences in second vase which is slightly darker blue, has smaller foot and smaller figures. Slight differences in scene, which includes a small dog and and omits butterflies. Pedestal of swollen cubic shape with scroll-like corners decorated with white relief acanthus leaves and paterae, leafy branches emerging from paterae at base. Side panels of single figure scenes of Flora, two flying zephyrs and woman at an altar contained within blue rectangular moulded borders. Floral festoons suspended from top corners and centre of each panel.
