Summary

: Mug, inverted bell shape, bulbous body, everted rim, deep slightly tapered footring, loop ribbed handle. Transfer-printed overglaze, black. Le Feu shows East Asian scene, archer seated to right, leaning on low plinth, quiver of arrows over shoulder, shield at feet. Left, standing man pours into archer's teabowl and saucer. Behind him a steaming kettle above fire, behind, hanging on tea stall, cooking items and Chinese banner. Garden landscape. La Terre shows oriental garden with old man kneeling at feet, right, of young woman. He presents her with potted plant, she leans against a larger urn containing plants, to left another pot, from which large tree appears to grow. Between scenes pair of different butterflies.
