Summary

Public: Teabowl and saucer, soft paste porcelain, transfer-printed overglaze in black and enamelled overglaze in colour with tea party and arms. Private: Teabowl : tapered footring, slightly everted rim. transfer-printed overglaze, black with three scenes. Tea Party no 2 shows man and woman sitting on elaborate bench, in garden landscape, table on pedestal front left, she hands teabowl and saucer to man on right. Both elegantly dressed, table laden with teaware. Other scene shows transfer-printed cartouche bearing arms of Wilson impaling Langton. Enamelled overglaze detail "Arms: Sable a wolf salient or, on a chief argent three mullets sable, WILSON, impaling. Per pale argent and gules a cross double pommelled counterchanged and overall a bendlet sable, LANGTON. Crest: A demi-wolf or." (Marshall). Inside well transfer-printed overglaze, black, swimming swan. Enamelled overglaze black band inner rim. Saucer : transfer-printed black and enamelled colour overglaze arms of Wilson impaling Langton as on teabowl. Enamelled overglaze black band inner rim.
