Private: Mug, cylindrical body, slightly spread foot and everted rim, reeded loop handle. Transfer-printed overglaze, black, two rural scenes. Rural Lovers shows man and woman in country dress leaning against tree. She holds three-legged milking stool in left hand, yoke about her shoulders, two pails at her feet, to right. He stands on left, with arms crossed, looking at her. Right; two horned cows, one seated. Left; dog, distant track and gate. Rural landscape. Milking scene shows, centre, chapman leaning on staff and tree looking down at milkmaid to left. She sits milking, facing towards cow, pail beneath udders. Right, two horned cows facing opposite directions, one sitting. Rural landscape.
