Summary

Mug, cylindrical form, slightly spreading footring and everted rim, reeded high loop handle. Transfer printed overglaze, black with three scenes. Left of handle, George II (1683-1760) shows half length profile of king in ceremonial dress, facing left, wearing ribbon and star of Order of the Garter, long fashionable hair. Central print, military trophy with arms and British flag, naked boy sits centre holding a staff topped with a cap of Liberty in left hand, in right hand palm branch. Royal crown above scene, scroll below inscribed Liberty. Bottom right, RH Worcester and anchor rebus. Man o'war shown in full sail, to right of handle. Flags fly from top of masts.
