Summary

Public: Bowl, soft paste porcelain, transfer-printed overglaze, in black, with rural scenes. Private: Bowl, circular, tapered footring, transfer-printed overglaze, black, with rural scenes, bowl exterior. The Haymakers no 2 shows man and woman holding hands walking through rural landscape. Man, right, carries pitchfork, looks at woman. She carries hayrake, returns gaze. Both wear hats with hay poking out. Left; Tree, distant fence and beyond ruins on hill. Right; distant buildings, windmill on hill. The Bagpiper depicts buxom woman reclining on ground against bank, looking up left at standing bagpipe player, facing right. Basket at right of woman. Tree to left, rural landscape. Distant right round tower with flag. Milkmaids shows two woman, foreground, one to left holds pail on head, other is helped by man to raise pail to head. Left, fence, grazing cow and distant buildings. Right, grazing cow and rural landscape. Inside bowl very faded transfer-printed overglaze scene of swans, flying, sitting and swimming, amongst landscape. Enamelled overglaze black band inner rim.
