Summary

Public: Teabowl, soft paste porcelain, bat printed overglaze in black with scenes of courtship. Private: Teabowl, tapered footring, wide everted rim. Transfer-printed overglaze, black. Two scenes on opposite sides of exterior. Spring shows man and woman sitting on bank, tree behind right, church left distance. She has flowers in her lap and he holds her arm. Autumn Shows man and woman sitting on bank, figure crouched behind on left, bush to left, tree to right. He raises glass, basket of food at their feet to left. Inside Comedie Italienne, shows man and woman seated on terrace in front of a balustrade overlooking distant pyramid and tree. She plays guitar, he gazes up at her.
