Summary

Public: Globular teapot, soft paste porcelain, transfer-printed overglaze and painted in black, blue, green, yellow, purple and iron red enamels and gilt with Chinoiserie scene of women and children. Private: Globular teapot on heavy footring, with high shoulder, tall straight neck and heavy loop handle. Transfer-printed in overglaze purple on either side with repeated Chinoiserie scene comprising four ladies and one child sitting and standing around low table and tall stand surrounded by vases of flowers, details picked out in coloured enamels and gilt. Vase of flowers to underside of spout in overglaze purple with blue, green and purple detail, gilt and red crowfoot border around base of neck, handle picked out in iron red. Domed cover with flattened rim and central teardrop finial, with gilt and red crowfoot border to rim, enclosing three scenes of figures and foliage.
