Worcester Porcelain Factory 1751

Summary

Egg shaped vase with high flat shoulder, narrow foot slightly splayed at base and short flared neck. Painted overglaze on body in detail with large bouquet of Meissen style flowers including roses and lilies, and on opposite side of body with smaller flower group and two butterflies, one of which is small tortoiseshell. Flower sprigs and small insects on neck and shoulder. Tall domed lid with flared rim, badly crazed, painted with bouquet of flowers, butterfly and small insect. Moulded flower finial with stem and two leaves, painted purple, yellow and green.
