Summary

Public: Coffee cup and saucer, soft paste porcelain, painted with underglaze blue and overglaze pale pink grounds, and with pictures of feathers in overglaze enamels and gilt. Private: Conical coffee cup, tapering towards flat base, flaring out to rim. C scroll shaped loop handle. Exterior sides painted in underglaze blue ground with large octagonal reserve on side opposite handle. Blue covered in gilt striated lines imitating veined marble. Reserve painted with thick plain gilt border and filled with finely painted group of three different feathers in brown and green, crossed in style of a trophy. Indented ridge round base of cup, left plain white and bordered in gilt. Inside of cup covered in pale pink enamel ground, plain white border round rim, outlined in gilt, with scalloped gilt edge. Gilt detail on handle. Deep saucer with steep sloping sides, flaring at rim, wide flat well. Upper surface painted with pale pink enamel ground with large octagonal reserve in well and plain white border round rim, outlined in gilt with scalloped gilt edge. Reserve painted with thick plain gilt border and finely painted group of different feathers, in brown, black and orange, crossed in trophy style. Exterior sides of saucer, outside footring, painted with underglaze blue ground covered in gilt veining in imitation of marble.
