Worcester Porcelain Factory 1751

Summary

Public: Oval tray, soft paste porcelain, painted in green, yellow and iron red overglaze enamels and gilt with floral patterns reserved against underglaze blue ground. Private: Oval tray with small applied loop handles at each end, in the form of green stems with applied flowers and leaves at terminals. Tray has deep well and broad sloping rim, slightly ridged at the edge. Underglaze blue ground to well and sides of tray, with white border to rim and four white leaf-shaped reserves in well, two at edges, two in middle, around central oval reserve. Blue ground decorated with gilt outline pattern of blossoms and crosshatching. Leaf-shaped reserves outlined in red, green and gilt, each containing small floral sprig. Central reserve has gilt and iron red border of loops and dots around central flowerbud in red and gilt. Outer rim of tray has gilt and iron red border of loops and dots. Applied flowers and leaves painted in yellow, red and green.
