Summary

Public: Coffee cup, soft paste porclain, transfer printed overglaze and coloured over, ribbed loop handle, Europeanized landscape with Chinese men, scrolls. Private: Straight sided coffee cup rising from smaller, tapered footring, slightly everted rim. Ribbed loop handle. Transfer-printed overglaze and colour enamelled. Two scenes on opposite sides of cup. Larger scene shows turret with flying flag and houses, coloured pink, fence and lake in middle distance, all framed by scrolls and foliage amongst which sits one Chinaman to the right holding a staff topped with curved length with bell at each end, the second stands to the left, facing inwards. The whole is coloured pink, green, yellow and terracotta. Other scene shows a Chinaman with terracotta pointed hat sitting beneath roofed shelter, with hoop hanging from fishing rod, surrounded by foliage and scrolls. On inner rim faded enamelled overglaze black band. Larger scene has partially removed signature to bottom right '..... fecit'.
