Summary
Public: Teapot and stand, soft paste porcelain, decorated in underglaze cobalt blue, iron red, green and blue enamels and gilt in imitation Japanese pattern. Private: Globular teapot with straight neck, thick footring and thick loop handle. Main body covered in underglaze scale blue ground with rococo mirror-shaped and vase-shaped reserves on each side. Smaller reserves on spout, handle and round shoulder. Reserves outlined in elaborate gilt scrolls and filled with stylised chrysanthemums and other flowers in red, green, blue and gilt; two wheatsheaves in mirror-shaped reserve on one side. Plain white neck and footring. Domed lid with flat sloping edge, decorated with same scale blue ground, two mirror-shaped and one vase-shaped reserve, filled with red flowers, one also with wheatsheaves. Central moulded flower finial painted in yellow, red and green with moulded stem reaching down side of lid. Moulded hexagonal stand with flat base and straight sloping fluted sides, emphasised at corners. Underglaze scale blue ground on upper surface with mirror-shaped and vase-shaped reserves, round central circular reserve edged in scalloped gilt line and filled with flowers in red, green and gilt. Elaborate gilt scrolls round outer reserves, each filled with different sprig of flowers, one also with wheatsheaves. Small reserves round gilt edged rim, also filled with red flowers.
