Summary

Public: Cake plate, soft paste porcelain, decorated in underglaze cobalt blue, iron red and puce enamels and gilt in Japanese 'Imari' style pattern. Private: Shallow bowl-like cake plate with curved sides and tapered footring. Decorated with alternating cobalt blue and white stripes in a whorl pattern radiating out from central circular medallion. Each blue stripe has pattern of stylised flowers and scrolls reserved in white and outlined in gilt. Each white stripe is filled with stylised flowers and scrolls in iron red and puce enamel. Plain white central medallion with simple flower in the centre, in iron red and puce. Border round plate rim of simple scrolls in iron red, gilt edged rim.
