Summary

Public: Mug, soft paste porcelain, transfer-printed overglaze, black with portrait of King of Prussia, military trophy of arms and pennants and winged figure of Fame. Private: Mug, cylindrical rising from spreading foot, everted rim, double ribbed high loop handle. Transfer-printed overglaze, black, with scenes relating to Seven Years War (1756-1763). King of Prussia shows half length portrait of Frederick the Great wearing armour, head facing outwards, hair in fashion of time. Beneath, inside elaborate scroll at chest height, The KING of PRUSSIA &c. Above head winged figure holds laurel wreath, facing left. Bottom right anchor rebus and RH Worcester. Military trophy shows arms, plain pennants. Central cartouche trumpeting figure. Bottom right trumpet with pennant with protruding wand, wrapped in ribbon ending in tassle. Fame shows winged figure with flowing dress blowing two trumpets, facing right. Some specks present on surface.
