Summary

Public: Saucer dish, soft paste porcelain, six lobed rim, transfer-printed overglaze, black with full-length portrait of the King of Prussia in front of battle scene. Private: Saucer dish, circular with six lobed rim, tapered footring, flaring to shallow dish form. Transfer-printed overglaze, black, with battle scene and King of Prussia foreground. King shown standing on hill above battle. He wears trailing ermine lined cloak over armour, his hair in fashion of time. He faces towards us, left arm points towards battle behind him, right hand holds Field Marshal's baton. Bottom left, RH. Worcester, bottom right, 1757. Above his head two winged cherubs, one raising laurel wreath, other holds palm branch. Battle scene features horsemen, gunsmoke and ranks of troups. Pencilled black band enamelled overglaze inner rim.
